Email Address in "Plain Sight"
Once in a while a client might request, "Would you please put my email address in the header/footer (or somewhere)." I always highly recommend to NOT do this. You see, a large percentage of visitors to your website will be Bots, most of those bots are Bad Bots. Bad Bots scour the internet scraping information for all kinds of malicious uses. Bad Bots can easily find your email address, put it in a database and spam you like crazy, re-sell your email address (over and over until infinity) or both.
By putting your email address out in plain sight, your email address WILL become the target of spam attacks. Furthermore, even though it may start slowly... over time it will only grow and grow forever. The email address may get spammed so much it will become unusable.
Contact Forms
All modern Web Designs use Contact Forms (as an example you can view our Contact Form on this website). Contact Forms are the best way for visitors to contact the sites owner. By using a Contact Form or multiple forms, all email addresses are hidden and can't be collected by Bad Bots. People have become used to this method of contacting through a website so there is absolutely no reason to put your email address out there for Bad Bots to collect.
