To put it simply, SEO (Search Engline Optimization), Internet Marketing and Paid Advertising are very complicated... and, constantly changing. Please read this "Basic Overview" of SEO on this page and when your ready for an in-depth view on SEO, please visit my Realities of SEO page.
1.) Organic Ranking
This means "Without paying ANY money to Search Engines" to rank higher in a search engine search. Your site can "Organically Rank" by using good and relevant page "Titles", "Descriptions" and MOST IMPORTANTLY... Content. Content, relative and great content is the #1 thing you can do to improve your Organic Ranking.
Search engines do pay attention to the "logical" aspects of your website (like loading speed, mobile useability, etc.) but content is the major factor in determining how well your site will rank. A very simple site with lots of good content will out-rank a fancy zip, slide, page fading site any day (for example Wikipedia and Reddit). If you have a website that actually ads value to the internet with great and relevant content, your website will slowly start to gain ranking. Please visit our page on Content Marketing for more information.

2.) PayPerClick
If you want to be at the top of the page in a search Right Now!, you can pay for it. This means you will Pay Search Engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.) or websites to place your site/ad near or at the top of a page for a specific keyword search. By "Paying" for ranking, you can easily be on page 1 very quickly... just depends on how much you want to spend. This isn't "SEO" (Search Engine Optimization), it's paying for advertising. When you stop paying, your site will disappear from the top and drop back down to it's natural organic ranking.
If your going to spend money on Ads, it's important to have a website and "Landing Page" (the page the person lands on) that entices them into your goal. The wording of the Ad, the Landing Page and it's relevance to the ad, the management of the keywords and much more make online ads a complicated endeavour. The easiest way to do it just set a budget, let us run a campaign and look at the bottom line.
How Pay Per Click works:
- You choose and or we consult with you to help you choose "Keywords" like "Sushi", "Tokyo Restaurant" or "Tokyo SEO" and then when somebody searches for that or those words, your site's ad appears at or near the top of the page.
- When somebody clicks your ad, you pay Google (or other search engine) the "Cost Per Click".
- Remember, just because the person clicked your ad doesn't mean they will contact you or buy something off your website, they have to like what they see once they land on your website! In reality the "Conversion Rate" (the percentage of visitors to your website that complete a desired goal) averages between 5% and 10%. So, 10 to 20 people will need to click your ad before you get one that is actually going to contact you or buy something from you.
- "How much do I have to pay per click?" This all depends on the "Competition Level" of your Keyword(s). If your business is in a niche market and not many companies are fighting to be at the top, your keyword(s) price is relatively low. If your business is in a highly competitive industry, expect to pay a premium. Note that In my experience the "Low" is never an accurate estimate, the "High" or near the "High" is what you should expect to pay per click for good placement. Some examples (as of 2018):
- "Tokyo Restaurant" (for the World in English): Low $0.43 per click, High $1.15 per click
- "Japan Travel" (for the World in English): Low $0.47 per click, High $3.11 per click
- "Tokyo Hotel" (for the World in English): Low $0.98 per click, High $3.61 per click
- "Skiing in Colorado" (for USA only in English): Low $0.51 per click, High $4.10 per click
- "英会話 オンライン" (for Japan only in Japanese) (Eikaiwa online; Online English Class): Low $3.84 per click, High $13.30 per click
- You CAN set a daily "Max. Budget" for your Ad campaigns so you don't need to worry about going over budget.

3.) Social Marketing
"Social Marketing", By posting content to FaceBook, YouTube, Twitter, Cloudbrat, etc. and getting people to click back to your website, is another effective way to build visits to your site. Note! You can't just post junk Or constantly "push" your product/brand! If you do that, your going to LOSE "Likes", "Friends" and Visitors! The "Correct Way" to promote your site on these outlets is very subtle yet effective and takes finesse.
